Project Spotlight: Leone & Vaughn

Leone & Vaughn – Designed by Light

If you take a trip down to 945 Elliott Ave you will see one of our favorite projects. The single-story gray brick building boasts only two signs – one single face cabinet sign over the entrance and one set of address letters.

The signs are simple and clean, expertly designed to match the fascia of the building and meet the criteria of the client. They are highly visible during the day allowing for customers to easily identify the office. However, at night, it’s a different story.

Strategic use of halo lighting creates an eye-catching display that runs the risk of distracting drivers as they pass. The address letters are lit with LED modules mounted to aluminum plates that then backwash off the brick. The cabinet sign is illuminated with white LED through clear acrylic push through copy with vinyl overlay.

The beauty of these signs lies in their simplicity. Instead of placing importance on color, materials, and graphic design the designer focused on employing existing elements of the building to create a powerful (and cost effective!) presence for the Leone & Vaughn office. Using one of the most dominant elements of signage – light – the fascia of the building comes alive.
